Learn variety of Laos'
traditions and cultures from this tour. Having moved from the
South of China and also being influenced by neighboring
countries, the Laotians have their own unique traditions and
cultures which are shown in their costumes, houses, temples,
and markets. Also, travel along Mekong River, to the UNESCO
world's heritage site in Luang Prabang, the seeing the
marvelous scenery of landscapes.
Day 1: Arrive Houeisay
Arrive in Houeisay from Chiang Khong (Thailand). Discover
the traditional lifestyle of the Lu minority at Ban Namkeung
26 km out of town. These minority people move from South
China hundreds of year ago and formed a community of houses
near the river. Houses are facing the temple is the sign of
respect to their Lord Buddha. In the afternoon, we return to
Houeisay and enjoy you for shopping at the local shops.
Day 2: Houeisay -
Pakbeng
After breakfast, we pick up from hotel lobby and travel by
boat downstream on the Mekong River to Pakbeng. Enjoy the
magnificent view of beautiful mountains ranges and natural
forests. The stop is at Ban Houeilampen, a Hmomg minority
village with 50 families approx - most of their traditional
dresses are still well preserved with colorful wooly boa
collars and delicate hand embroidered trousers. Admire the
wonderful scenery and rural life along the Mekong River. You
will arrive in the evening at Pakbeng - overnight stay.
Day 3: Pakbeng - Luang
Prabang
After breakfast, we visit the local market in the morning
before keep continuing a travel by boat downstream to Luang
Prabang, the Asia's best preserved ancient city and it was
recently awarded with World Heritage status by UNESCO, a
move that will ensure that Luang Prabang remains pristine
from generation to generation. On the way stop at Pak Ou and
visit the caves to see the thousands of Buddha since the
16th century. This cave was founded by the King
Setthathirath. In late afternoon, arrive at Luang Prabang
transfer to hotel.
Day 4: Luang Prabang
After breakfast, today is the day of discover the UNESCO
World Heritage site; 1st visit is at the museum (former
king's palace), Wat Visoun where one can see the Biggest
Buddha statue in Laos and many ancient wooden and bronze
Buddha images collected from the ruin of temples in the
north of Laos. Wat Xieng Thong, the most beautiful temple in
Luang Prabang with its mosaic decoration and the former
royal carriage. We drive you overland en route to Kouangsy
Waterfall, located in an ideal area deep in the forest, away
from human habitation. It is perfect for rest and relaxation
- on the way to the falls, the famous weaving village of Ban
Phanom can be also visited
Day 5: Depart Luang
Prabang
Breakfast at hotel, the last day, we take you to visit the
museum (former king's palace) which display many personal
artifacts of the royal family, photos, and other use of the
king family at that time. And you will be transferred to
airport.
