Nam Lik River is one of many
rivers located near Vientiane. Even though The river is rather
small, the scenery around it is remarkable. There are huge
limestone karst formations climbing straight up into the
clouds with lush verdant valleys below. Large areas of rice
paddies are everywhere dotted with water buffalos and cattle
roam freely amongst the lowland vegetation. This is the same
kind of picture you can see in a postcard.
Day 1:
8.00 a.m. Leave from Vientiane by 4x4 and head north to Nam
Lik. On the way, we make the first stop at Vangxang, Dan
Phra and Dan Soung. After visiting these amazing sites,
continue to Nam Lik, where picnic lunch will be served by
the river. After picnic lunch, adventure starts on the Nam
Lik to the rock climbing site for rock climbing and
swimming, then canoeing to the camping site in the forest.
Day 2:
7.00 a.m. Start trekking into the forest and up to the
mountain peak, roughly 5 hrs to reach the top, where
spectacular view of Nam Ngum can be observed. Keep trekking
down to the Thaheua (about 20 mns drive from Vangvieng) or
to the dam. You are free for swimming, sun bath and etc.
6.00 p.m. Arrive at Thaheua to return to Vangvieng or 4.00
p.m. at the dam return to
Vientiane.
