Oudomxai is a mountaineous
province, located in the northern part of Laos, is home of
23 ethnic groups with its own distinct culture, religion,
language and colourful style of dress. In fact, Oudomxai is
an ideal base for excursions and trekking to varied sights
and attractions as well as destination in its own right and
Muang Xay, the province's capital, also has one of the best
produce markets in the area. Trekking through the South East
Asian forest, up a mountain, to visit Iko and Akha
hill tribe villages is obtainable in this tour.
Day 1: Arrive
Vientiane [L-D]
Upon arrival at Wattay Airport for Friendship Bridge, you
are welcomed by the hospitality meeting, and then you will
be transferred to hotel. Start the day trip visiting the
city with its attractions: Vat Sisaket, Ho Prakeo, That
Luang Stupa and Patuxay. Lunch will be served at down own
restaurant. After lunch, visit Vat Xieng Khuan.
Dinner and Good Night!
Day 2: Oudomxai -
Luang Namtha [B-L-D]
Breakfast at hotel, you will be transferred to domestic
airport and take off to Oudomxai. Upon arrival, break in
proceeding en route to Luang Namtha with a picnic lunch.
After lunch visit nearby ethnic village, we arrive at
Luang Namtha in late afternoon and then install in
guesthouse. Brief you on trekking information at Namtha
eco-tourism office before the day trip.
Day 3: Trekking

After breakfast, welcome trekking about 20 km from
starting point - the trek will take 4-5 hours, by walking
pass through the primary forest, diverse vegetation types
such as dry evergreen diptecocarp, mixed deciduous and
mostly mono specific coniferous forests, wild cardamom an
others can be found. The trek keeps continuing until Ban
Mat Kao, an Akha village for overnight stay. Good dream!
Day 4: Trekking

Welcome morning with a hot plate breakfast in a village,
the trek route begins with a quite 4-5 hours walk with
ascending and descending the mountain, crossing and
walking along the river. Pause quietly in the forest for
several minutes and to feel the forest come alive with the
songs of birds and shouts of insects. The trek keeps
continuing until Ban Mat May, an Akha village for
overnight stay.
Day 5: Trekking ends

After breakfast, the trek continues with 3-4 hours walking
until Ban Nam Ngeun, a village next to Namtha district.
We arrive at Namtha district in the afternoon with en
rout visit to Moung Sing.
Day 6: Muong Sing -Xiengkok
- Houeisay [B-L-D]
Early wake up and visit the local morning market where
ethnic people come to sell and buy at the market. We break
you with breakfast before getting en route to Xiengkok and
travel by speedboat downstream to Houeisay. If time
permits, the some villages visiting on the way can be
done.
Day 7: Depart Houeisay

After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye. We transfer you
to boat landing for departure Chiang Khong.
Note: Iko or Akha
ethnic people is very kind when welcoming guest but also
very sensitive in term of tradition and culture. Visitors
are advised, when visit the Iko village have to respect
the costumes and tradition such as: before entering in the
village and depending the period of time, authorization
has to be obtained. And after entering in the village do
not disturb people involved in the ceremonies or touch any
altars or ritual items.
