Passport and
Visa
Visa is required by all nationalities. Visa can be obtained
upon arrival at Wattay Airport, Friendship Bridge in
Vientiane, and Luang Prabang Airport with the fee of US
$30/person with 15 days validity and can be renewed for
another 15 days with US $3/person/day.
Climate
Lao only has two seasons, dry season starts from November to
February and rainy season starts from June to October, which
means that Laos can be visited throughout the year. We
recommend you to bring light cotton clothing and hats during
March to May, and pullover or jacket from November to
February, especially, if you are visiting to the northern
part of Laos.
Health
No vaccination is required. Visitors are advised t check
with their doctor or a travel immunization clinic regarding
the advisability of inoculation against typhoid, hepatitis,
tetanus, Japanese encephalitis.
Currency
The local currency is the kip. Travelers are strictly
required to make exchange at licensed exchanged shops while
paying in Laos. Credit cards are only accepted in few
places. It is best to carry US Dollars bill in small
denominations.
Airport Tax
All passengers leaving Laos by International Airport (Wattay
and Luang Prabang) have to pay US $10 of airport tax.
Time Zone
Laos time is 7 hours ahead of GMT.
Tipping
This is not customary in Laos, however if visitors want to
show their appreciation, they are please to do so.
